SEMPAI DARREN TAYLOR 2nd DAN
In 1985 at the age of fifteen I was introduced to karate by school friends where I proceeded to grade up to 7th kyu. In December 2004 after a long absence ( about fifteen years) I returned to training with my son Bradley (lovingly known as Alfie to all club mates). After three years of hard training I achieved Shodan, in March of 2007. During my teenage years I entered several Kumite competitions and then on my return to karate being a bit older I then entered a few Kata competitions, although never winning any medals the experience was priceless. Putting my competition behind me I now get great joy and pride watching my boy Brad developing his karate and having a go on the competition circuit and eagerly await the day he will go for his Shodan ( which will be a proud for all the family), which is now only around the corner as he’s now a 1st kyu. After an absence of fifteen years I am living proof that it’s never too late to return and you are never too old.
